Scope note: Células de la serie eritroide derivadas de las CÉLULAS PROGENITORAS MIELOIDES, o a partir de las CÉLULAS PROGENITORAS MEGACARIOCITO-ERITROIDES bipotenciales, las cuales eventualmente pueden dar lugar a CÉLULAS ROJAS SANGUÍNEAS maduras. Las células progenitoras eritroides se desarrollan en dos fases: unidades formadoras de cúmulos eritroides (BFU-E, en inglés) seguida por unidades formadoras de colonias eritroides (CFU-E, en inglés). Las BFU-E se diferencian hacia las CFU-E al ser estimuladas por la ERITROPOYETINA y continúan diferenciándose hasta convertirse en ERITROBLASTOS al ser estimuladas por otros factores.

Scope note: The cells in the erythroid series derived from MYELOID PROGENITOR CELLS or from the bi-potential MEGAKARYOCYTE-ERYTHROID PROGENITOR CELLS which eventually give rise to mature RED BLOOD CELLS. The erythroid progenitor cells develop in two phases: erythroid burst-forming units (BFU-E) followed by erythroid colony-forming units (CFU-E); BFU-E differentiate into CFU-E on stimulation by ERYTHROPOIETIN, and then further differentiate into ERYTHROBLASTS when stimulated by other factors.
