Scope note: La porción anatómica anterior de la mandíbula, también conocida como barbilla, que contiene la línea de fusión de las dos mitades separadas de la mandíbula (sínfisis mentoniana). Esta línea de fusión se divide en la parte inferior para delimitar un área triangular denominada la protuberancia mentoniana. A cada lado, en la parte inferior al segundo diente premolar, se encuentra el orificio mentoniano para el paso de los vasos sanguíneos y un nervio.

Scope note: The anatomical frontal portion of the mandible, also known as the mentum, that contains the line of fusion of the two separate halves of the mandible (symphysis menti). This line of fusion divides inferiorly to enclose a triangular area called the mental protuberance. On each side, inferior to the second premolar tooth, is the mental foramen for the passage of blood vessels and a nerve.
