Scope note: Trabajo que describe los resultados de un estudio clínico en el que se asigna a los participantes a una o más intervenciones para que los investigadores evalúen los efectos de las mismas sobre criterios de valoración biomédicos o relacionados con la salud. Las asignaciones vienen determinadas por el protocolo del estudio. Los participantes pueden ser objeto de intervenciones diagnósticas, terapéuticas o de otro tipo. Para los ensayos clínicos con animales, véase ENSAYO CLÍNICO VETERINARIO. Antes de 2019 se utilizaba el término ensayos clínicos tanto para los ensayos realizados con seres humanos como para los realizados con animales.
