Scope note: Protozoo parásito que se encuentra naturalmente en el macaco. Es similar al PLASMODIUM VIVAX y produce un tipo de malaria similar a la malaria vivax (MALARIA VIVAX). Se ha comprobado que esta especie produce infecciones, tanto naturales como experimentales, en humanos.
