Scope note: Prótesis utilizada comúnmente que da lugar a una restauración fuerte y permanente. Consta de un retenedor de metal fundido electrolíticamente cauterizado que es cementado (unido), utilizando resinas, a los dientes adyacentes cuyo esmalte fue tratado previamente con ácido (cauterizado con ácido). Este tipo de trabajo de puente recibe en ocasiones la denominación de puente de Maryland.
