Scope note: Trabajos sobre estudios comparativos para verificar la efectividad de medicamentos, dispositivos o técnicas diagnósticas, terapéuticas o preventivas determinadas en los ensayos en fase II. Durante estos ensayos, los pacientes son controlados muy de cerca por los médicos para identificar cualquier reacción adversa derivada del empleo a largo plazo. Estos estudios se realizan en grupos de pacientes lo suficientemente grandes para identificar respuestas clínicamente significativas y generalmente duran tres años. Este concepto incluye los ensayos en fase III efectuados en Estados Unidos y otros países.
