Scope note: Género de monos del Viejo Mundo, subfamilia COLOBINAE, familia CERCOPITHECIDAE, que vive en las selvas de África. Consta de las siguientes especies: C. angolensis (colobo angolano), C. badius o C. rufomitratus (colobo rojo o bayo), C. guereza (Guereza o colobo blanquinegro del este), C. kirkii (colobo de Kirk), C. polykomos (colobo rey o colobo blanquinegro del oeste). El colobo negro y el colobo oliva están clasificados actualmente en los géneros Piliocolobus y Procolobus, respectivamente.

It consists of eight species: C. angolensis (Angolan colobus), C. badius or C. rufomitratus (Red or Bay colobus), C. guereza (Guereza or Eastern black-and-white colobus), C. kirkii (Kirk's colobus), C. polykomos (King colobus or Western black-and-white colobus). Black colobus and Olive colobus are now classified under genus Piliocolobus and genus Procolobus, respectively.
