Scope note: Cepa de VIRUS LINFOTRÓPICO T DE LOS PRIMATES TIPO 2, estrechamente relacionado con el HTLV-1 humano. Las características clínicas, hematológicas e histopatológicas de la enfermedad de los monos infectados por el STLV son muy parecidas a las de la leucemia de células T de los adultos humanos. Entre los subgrupos se encuentra el subtipo del mono verde africano (STLV-1-AGM), cuya secuencia de nucleótidos es homóloga en un 95 por ciento a la del VIRUS LINFOTRÓPICO T HUMANO TIPO 1, y el subtipo del macaco Rhesus de la India (STLV-1-MM), cuya secuencia de nucleótidos es homóloga en un 90 por ciento a la del VIRUS LINFOTRÓPICO T HUMANO TIPO 1.

Scope note: A strain of PRIMATE T-LYMPHOTROPIC VIRUS 2, closely related to the human HTLV-1 virus. The clinical, hematological, and histopathological characteristics of the disease in STLV-infected monkeys are very similar to those of human adult T-cell leukemia. Subgroups include the African green monkey subtype (STLV-I-AGM), for which the nucleotide sequence is 95% homologous with that of HUMAN T-LYMPHOTROPIC VIRUS 1, and the Asian rhesus macaque subtype (STLV-I-MM), for which the nucleotide sequence is 90% homologous with that of HUMAN T-LYMPHOTROPIC VIRUS 1.
