Scope note: Carcinoma de células en anillo de sello del ovario, generalmente metastásico de un primario del tubo digestivo, caracterizado por áreas de degeneración mucinosa y presencia de células en anillo de sello. Representa el 30-40 por ciento de los tumores metastásicos del ovario y posiblemente el 1-2 por ciento de todos los tumores malignos del ovario. Estas lesiones pueden no descubrirse hasta que el tumor primario está muy avanzado y la mayoría de las pacientes mueren por esta enfermedad en el plazo de 1 año. Scope note: Mucocellular carcinoma of the ovary, usually metastatic from the gastrointestinal tract, characterized by areas of mucoid degeneration and the presence of signet-ring-like cells. It accounts for 30%-40% of metastatic cancers to the ovaries and possibly 1%-2% of all malignant ovarian tumors. The lesions may not be discovered until the primary disease is advanced, and most patients die of their disease within a year. In some cases, a primary tumor is not found.
