Entre las causas figuran una ASISTENCIA PRENATAL inadecuada, historia obstétrica previa (ABORTO ESPONTÁNEO), enfermedad maternal previa, enfermedad inducida por el embarazo (HIPERTENSIÓN GESTACIONAL) y EMBARAZO MÚLTIPLE , así como una edad materna avanzada, por encima de 35 años.
