Scope note: Trastorno de la vejiga que afecta principalmente a mujeres, con lesión inflamatoria, generalmente en el vértice, y que afecta a todo el grosor de la pared en forma de placas pequeñas de mucosa de color rojo pardusco, rodeadas por una red de vasos radiales. Las lesiones, llamadas úlceras de Fenwick-Hunner o de Hunner, pueden cicatrizar superficialmente y son muy difíciles de descubrir. Es típico que haya polaquiuria y dolor al llenarse la vejiga y al final de la micción. Se la denomina también cistitis intersticial crónica. (Dorland, 27th ed)
