Scope note: Especie de ORTHOHANTAVIRUS que surgió en la zona de Four Corners (Estados Unidos) en 1993. Produce una neumopatía grave, a menudo mortal (SÍNDROME PULMONAR POR HANTAVIRUS), en los seres humanos. La transmisión tiene lugar por inhalación de las secreciones aerosolizadas de roedores (especialmente ratones de las especies PEROMYSCUS maniculatus y P. truei) que contienen partículas víricas.

Scope note: A species of ORTHOHANTAVIRUS which emerged in the Four Corners area of the United States in 1993.
