Scope note: Uno de los órdenes más extensos de CRUSTACEA principalmente marinos que contiene más de 10.000 especies. Como el orden AMPHIPODA, el otro gran orden del superorden Peracarida, sus miembros tienen forma de gamba, ojos compuestos sésiles y no poseen concha. Pero al contrario que los Amphipoda, poseen pleopodos abdominales (modificados como branquias) y su cuerpo es aplanado dorsoventralmente.

Like AMPHIPODA, the other large order in the superorder Peracarida, members are shrimp-like in appearance, have sessile compound eyes, and no carapace. But unlike Amphipoda, they possess abdominal pleopods (modified as gills) and their bodies are dorsoventrally flattened.
