El tratamiento puede incluir la detección de placas, eliminación de placas supra y subgingivales y de cálculos, aplicación de agentes para la prevención de caries, comprobación de restauraciones y prótesis y corrección de los bordes y contornos proximales redundantes de las restauraciones, y la comprobación de los signos de retención de alimentos.
