Scope note: Inflamación aguda del intestino, asociada a DIARREA infecciosa de etiología diversa, generalmente adquirida por la ingestión de alimentos contaminados que contienen TOXINAS BIOLÓGICAS derivadas de BACTERIAS u otros microorganismos. La disentería se caracteriza inicialmente por HECES acuosas y posteriormente por la presencia de sangre y moco en las mismas. Con frecuencia se asocia a DOLOR ABDOMINAL, FIEBRE y DESHIDRATACIÓN.
