Scope note: Infección causada por Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae que casi siempre afecta a personas que en su trabajo manipulan pescado, mariscos, aves o carne infectados. Esta enfermedad se presenta en tres formas: una forma leve localizada que se manifiesta por hinchazón y enrojecimiento local de la piel; una forma difusa que puede presentarse con fiebre; y una rara forma sistémica asociada a endocarditis.
