Scope note: Conjunto de elementos directores para la investigación e innovación sanitarias, dirigidos hacia las necesidades sanitarias del país y enfocados al desarrollo y optimización de la absorción de conocimiento científico y tecnológico por parte de la industria, los servicios sanitarios y la comunidad. Podría concebirse como un componente de la Política Nacional de Salud, actuando como inductor del desarrollo científico y tecnológico en materia de salud. La investigación sanitaria deberá cubrir no solamente las áreas de conocimiento sanitario (biomédico, clínico y de salud pública) sino, también, la investigación en otras áreas del conocimiento aplicado al "sector sanitario".
