Scope note: Cepas mutantes de ratas que poseen escaso o ningún pelo. Hay diversas mutaciones recesivas diferentes que pueden causar la ausencia de pelo, como rnu/rnu (rata desnuda Rowett), fz/fz (de "fuzzy", pelusa), shn/shn (se "shorn", pelada) y nznu/nznu (rata New Zealand desnuda). Observar que aunque las RATAS DESNUDAS con frecuencia carecen de pelo, más caracetrísticamente son atímicas.
