Scope note: Proteína NLR que contiene un dominio N-terminal PIRINA, un sitio de unión a ATP y 9 repeticiones ricas en LEUCINA C-terminales. Se expresa principalmente en los MACRÓFAGOS. Es un componente central de los INFLAMASOMAS y dirige el ensamblamiento de este en respuesta a la infección por patógenos y a los estímulos asociados a la lesión. Las mutaciones del gen NLRP3 se asocian al SÍNDROME AUTOINFLAMATORIO FAMILIAR POR FRÍO.
