Scope note: Aumento de la concentración de una sustancia exógena en los tejidos de organismos por encima de la existente en el AMBIENTE circundante. La acumulación de esos XENOBIÓTICOS a mayores niveles de forma ascendente en la CADENA ALIMENTARIA recibe el nombre de biomagnificación. La bioacumulación de sustancias químicas tóxicas (p. ej., plomo y DDT) puede causar TRASTORNOS INDUCIDOS QUÍMICAMENTE.

Scope note: An increase in the concentration of an exogenous substance in the tissues of organisms higher than surrounding ENVIRONMENT. Accumulation of such XENOBIOTICS at successively higher levels up the FOOD CHAIN is called biomagnification. Bioaccumulation of toxic chemicals (e.g., Lead and DDT) may result in CHEMICALLY-INDUCED DISORDERS.
