Scope note: Ictus isquémico debido a un coágulo sanguíneo, un émbolo u otros tipos de obstrucciones que se forman en un lugar distinto del encéfalo y que posteriormente se desplazan a una zona próxima y limitan el flujo sanguíneo al encéfalo. Muy a menudo el coágulo se origina en el corazón, en cuyo caso el ictus recibe el nombre de ictus cardioembólico.
