Scope note: Tipos de polisacáridos que son componentes de la matriz de pectina de la pared celular vegetal. El ramnogalacturonano I se caracteriza por un esqueleto del disacárido repetido ácido (4)-alfa-D-galacturónico-(1,2)-alfa-L-ramnosa-(1,-) en el que muchos de los residuos de ramnosa están sustituidos en C4 por cadenas laterales de diversos azúcares neutros unidos entre sí de diversas formas. El ramnogalacturonano II es un polisacárido complejo altamente ramificado cuyo esqueleto consta exclusivamente de unidades de ácido D-galacturónico.
