Scope note: | The Australian Practice of Traditional Medicine (PTM) is guided by a holistic worldview whose worldview recognizes good health as a complex system involving interconnection with the land, recognition of spirit and ancestry, and social, mental well-being. , physical and emotional of both the individual and the community. Indigenous Australians view ill health as the result of one of three causes: a natural physical cause, a spirit causing harm, or an illness due to witchcraft. This medicine has been practiced in the Pacific Islands for many years, and the Pacific people continue to use it even after emigrating to New Zealand. The worldview of these medicines includes the importance of spirituality, the environment and inherited knowledge, their practices incorporate phytotherapy, crystal therapy, diets, faith healing (prayer, religious rituals, songs and psalmodies), manipulation of bones and joints to treat musculoskeletal injuries and conditions, family bonding and massage therapy. |
