El concepto incluye al léntigo senil ( manchas hepáticas ) y el léntigo nevoide (nevus spilus, léntigo simple) y puede aparecer también asociado con defectos congénitos múltiples o síndromes congénitos (ejemplo, síndrome de Peutz-Jeghers).

Scope note: Small circumscribed melanoses resembling, but differing histologically from, freckles.
