Scope note: Síndrome caracterizado por incremento de la pigmentación de la piel, defectos visuales secundarios a compresión del QUIASMA ÓPTICO y concentraciones séricas elevadas de ACTH tras la suprarrenalectomía por SÍNDROME DE CUSHING. La causa de este síndrome es la expansión de un adenoma hipofisario subyacente, secretor de ACTH. (Joynt, Clinical Neurology, 1992, Ch36, p81)

Scope note: A syndrome characterized by HYPERPIGMENTATION, enlarging pituitary mass, visual defects secondary to compression of the OPTIC CHIASM, and elevated serum ACTH. It is caused by the expansion of an underlying ACTH-SECRETING PITUITARY ADENOMA that grows in the absence of feedback inhibition by adrenal CORTICOSTEROIDS, usually after ADRENALECTOMY.
