Note d'application: Afección neurodegenerativa progresiva de los sistemas nervioso central y autonómico, caracterizada por atrofia de las neuronas preganglionares de las astas laterales de la médula espinal torácica. Se considera generalmente que esta enfermedad es una variante clínica de la ATROFIA DE MÚLTIPLES SISTEMAS. Los individuos afectados se presentan en la quinta o sexta década de la vida con ORTOSTASIS y disfunción vesical; y posteriormente se produce INCONTINENCIA FECAL, anhidrosis, ATAXIA, IMPOTENCIA y alteraciones del tono sugestivas de disfunción de los ganglios basales. Note d'application: A progressive neurodegenerative condition of the central and autonomic nervous systems characterized by atrophy of the preganglionic lateral horn neurons of the thoracic spinal cord. This disease is generally considered a clinical variant of MULTIPLE SYSTEM ATROPHY. Affected individuals present in the fifth or sixth decade with ORTHOSTASIS and bladder dysfunction; and later develop FECAL INCONTINENCE; anhidrosis; ATAXIA; IMPOTENCE; and alterations of tone suggestive of basal ganglia dysfunction.
