Scope note: Antihelmíntico con actividad frente al Schistosoma mansoni, pero no frente a otras Schistosoma spp. La oxamniquina hace que los gusanos emigren desde las venas mesentéricas al hígado, donde son retenidas las formas masculinas; el gusano hembra regresa al mesenterio, pero no puede ya liberar huevos. (Martidale, The Extra Pharmacopoeia, 31st ed, p121).
