Scope note: Organismos del reino vegetal que por su naturaleza son apropiados para utilizarlos como alimento, especialmente por los seres humanos. No todas las partes de una planta son comestibles pero todas las partes de las plantas comestibles han figurado como alimentos crudos o cocidos: hojas, raíces, tubérculos, tallos, semillas, brotes, frutas y flores. Las partes más comúnmente comestibles de las plantas son las FRUTAS, usualmente dulces, carnosas y suculentas. La mayoría de las plantas comestibles se suelen cultivar por su valor nutricional y se les conoce como VEGETALES.
