Scope note: Trastorno crónico común, no inflamatorio y por lo general asintomático, que se caracteriza por la aparición de placas maculares múltiples, de muy diversos tamaños y formas, y de pigmentación variable, desde el color tostado amarillento claro hasta el color pardo. Se observa con mayor frecuencia en regiones tropicales calientes y húmedas, y está causada principalmente por MALASSEZIA furfur (anteriormente Pityrosporum orbiculare).

Scope note: A common chronic, noninflammatory and usually symptomless disorder, characterized by the occurrence of multiple macular patches of all sizes and shapes, and varying in pigmentation from fawn-colored to brown. It is seen most frequently in hot, humid, tropical regions and is mostly caused by MALASSEZIA FURFUR (formerly Pityrosporum orbiculare).
