Scope note: Afección caracterizada por hinchazón crónica de las extremidades, frecuentemente una pierna con dermatitis por estasis y ulceraciones. Este síndrome puede aparecer poco después de una flebitis o años después. El síndrome postflebítico es consecuencia de los daños producidos en las válvulas de las venas de las extremidades. Por lo general se pueden observar VENAS VARICOSAS tortuosas y elongadas. Tras un largo período en bipedestación puede presentarse dolor en las piernas.

Scope note: A condition characterized by a chronically swollen limb, often a leg with stasis dermatitis and ulcerations. This syndrome can appear soon after phlebitis or years later. Postphlebitic syndrome is the result of damaged or incompetent venous valves in the limbs. Distended, tortuous VARICOSE VEINS are usually present. Leg pain may occur after long period of standing.
