Scope note: Proteína activadora termoestable de bajo peso molecular que se encuentra principalmente en el encéfalo y corazón. La unión de iones calcio a esta proteína permite a ésta unirse a fosfodiesterasas nucleotídicas cíclicas y a la adenil ciclasa con su posterior activación. Por ello, esta proteína modula las concentraciones de AMP cíclico y de GMP cíclico.

The binding of calcium ions to this protein allows this protein to bind to cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterases and to adenyl cyclase with subsequent activation. Thereby this protein modulates cyclic AMP and cyclic GMP levels.
