Scope note: Partes de la molécula de miosina que resultan de su escisión por enzimas proteolíticas (PAPAÍNA, TRIPSINA o QUIMOTRIPSINA) en regiones bien localizadas. El estudio de estos fragmentos aislados ayuda a delinear las funciones de diferentes partes de la miosina. Dos de los subfragmentos más comunes son la miosina S-1 y la miosina S-2. La S-1 contiene las cabezas de las cadenas pesadas más las cadenas ligeras, y la S-2 contiene parte de la cola de la cadena pesada con estructura de doble hebra dispuesta en alfa-hélice (bastón de miosina).
