Scope note: Receptores de la superficie celular que se unen a las somatomedinas y que generan cambios intracelulares que influyen en el comportamiento de las células. Los estudios han diferenciado dos tipos de receptores de esta familia de hormonas peptídicas. El receptor tipo I es homólogo al receptor de insulina y tiene actividad tirosina cinasa. El receptor tipo II es idéntico al receptor de la manosa-6-fosfato, que es importante en el tráfico de las enzimas lisosomales.

Studies have disclosed two types of receptors for this family of peptide hormones. The type I receptor is homologous to the insulin receptor and has tyrosine kinase activity. The type II receptor is identical to the mannose-6-phosphate receptor which is important in trafficking of lysosomal enzymes.
