Scope note: Invaginación tubular de la EPIDERMIS, a partir de la cual se desarrolla el tallo del pelo y en la que se abren las GLÁNDULAS SEBÁCEAS. El folículo está tapizado por una vaina radicular celular interna y externa de origen epidérmico y revestido por una vaina fibrosa derivada de la dermis. (Stedman, 25a ed) Los folículos de pelos muy largos se extienden dentro de la capa subcutánea del tejido bajo la PIEL.
