Scope note: Glicoproteínas integrales de membrana, sulfatadas y acídicas, que se expresan en varias inserciones alternativas y diversas formas glicosiladas en multitud de tipos celulares maduros, entre las que se incluyen: células-T, células-B, timocitos medulares, granulocitos, macrófagos, eritrocitos y fibroblastos. Los antígenos CD44 constituyen los principales receptores celulares de superficie para el hialuronato, y esta interacción media la unión de linfocitos en las vénulas endoteliales.
