Scope note: Estado de ánimo crónicamente depresivo que está presente la mayor parte del día de la mayoría de los días durante al menos dos años. En los niños, la duración mínima exigida para establecer este diagnóstico es solo de un año. Durante los períodos de estado de ánimo depresivo hay al menos otros dos síntomas de entre los siguientes: pérdida o aumento de apetito, insomnio o hipersomnia, falta de energía o fatiga, baja autoestima, dificultades para concentrarse o para tomar decisiones y sentimientos de desesperanza. (DSM-IV).
