Scope note: Las cadenas beta de integrinas se combinan con las cadenas alfa de integrinas para formar receptores heterodiméricos de la superficie celular. Tradicionalmente las integrinas se han clasificado en grupos funcionales a tenor de la identidad de una de las tres cadenas presentes en el heterodímero. La cadena beta es necesaria y suficiente para la señalización dependiente de integrinas. La corta cola citoplásmica contiene secuencias críticas para la señalización dentro-fuera.
