Scope note: Retención anormal de líquidos en el organismo como consecuencia de problemas de la función cardíaca o fallo cardíaco. Generalmente se caracteriza por un incremento de la presión venosa y capilar, con edemas en los miembros inferiores cuando se permanece en bipedestación. Es una entidad diferente del edema generalizado derivado de una disfunción renal (SÍNDROME NEFRÓTICO).
