Descriptor English: Succinate-Semialdehyde Dehydrogenase

Tree number(s): D08.811.682.657.163.843
RDF Unique Identifier: https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/D050644
Scope note: An enzyme that plays a role in the GLUTAMATE and butanoate metabolism pathways by catalyzing the oxidation of succinate semialdehyde to SUCCINATE using NAD+ as a coenzyme. Deficiency of this enzyme, causes 4-hydroxybutyricaciduria, a rare inborn error in the metabolism of the neurotransmitter 4-aminobutyric acid (GABA).
