Descriptor English: Fibromuscular Dysplasia
Descriptor Spanish: Displasia Fibromuscular
Descriptor displasia fibromuscular

Tree number(s): C14.907.137.372
RDF Unique Identifier: https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/D005352
Scope note: An idiopathic, segmental, nonatheromatous disease of the musculature of arterial walls, leading to STENOSIS of small and medium-sized arteries. There is true proliferation of SMOOTH MUSCLE CELLS and fibrous tissue. Fibromuscular dysplasia lesions are smooth stenosis and occur most often in the renal and carotid arteries. They may also occur in other peripheral arteries of the extremity.
Annotation: a disease of the musculature of arterial walls; do not confuse with the various MUSCULAR DISEASES in Category C5; coordinate IM with specific artery or pre-coordinated arterial disease (IM)
