Scope note: A fatty acid desaturase that is a rate-limiting enzyme for the conversion from dihomo-gamma-linolenic acid and EICOSATETRAENOATE (ETA) in the synthesis of ARACHIDONIC ACID and EICOSAPENTAENOATE (EPA).
