Note d'application: | Traditional medicines from the different ethnic groups existing in the region of the Americas, such as indigenous peoples, Afro-descendant peoples, and Roma, among others. Within the traditional medicines of the native peoples there would be, among others: Traditional medicines of the Eskimo peoples (Inuit, Yupik and Sadlermiut); Traditional medicines of the hunter-gatherer peoples of cold forests and mountains (Canada and the USA); Traditional medicines of the hunter-gatherer peoples of the plains and great lakes (Canada and the USA); Traditional medicines of the hunter-gatherer peoples of Arid America (USA and Mexico); Traditional medicines of the Mesoamerican agricultural peoples based on corn (from the southern half of Mexico, to the territories of Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador and the western region of Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica); Traditional medicines of the Amazonian peoples and the tropical forest (portions of Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Suriname and Venezuela); Traditional medicines of the Andean peoples (Bolivia, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador and Peru); Traditional Mesoamerican medicine refers to sets of complete health care systems of the agricultural peoples supported by corn, of Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador and the western region of Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica; Also included are the traditional medicines of Afro-descendant peoples who were originally brought as slaves. It is the largest and oldest group with more than 400 years. It includes part of Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Panama, Belize, Mexico, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Cuba and the United States; Traditional medicines from Romani groups that emigrated from Europe (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia); Traditional medicines from Mennonite peoples who emigrated from Europe (Mexico, Paraguay, Bolivia and Belize). |
