Scope note: Afección que se presenta cuando la obstrucción de la VENA CAVA SUPERIOR interrumpe el flujo de sangre procedente de la cabeza, las extremidades superiores y el torax hacia la AURÍCULA DERECHA. La obstrucción puede estar causada por NEOPLASIAS, TROMBOSIS, ANEURISMAS, o por compresión externa. Este síndrome se caracteriza por edema y/o CIANOSIS de la cara, el cuello y las extremidades superiores.
