En estudios anteriores se describía una "sustancia de reacción lenta de la ANAFILAXIA" liberada del pulmón por el veneno de cobra o después de un choque anafiláctico. Se estableció la relación entre los leucotrienos SRS-A por UV que demostró la presencia del trieno conjugado. (Merck Index, 11th ed)
