Scope note:

Motivos de unión a ADN formados por dos alfahélices que se entrelazan durante unos 8 giros en una espiral entrelazada y luego se bifurcan para formar estructuras en forma de Y. Las leucinas que se encuentran en repeticiones heptádicas terminan en los mismos lados de las hélices y son adyacentes unas a otras en el tronco de la Y (la región cremallera). Los residuos de unión al ADN se encuentran en la región bifurcada de la Y.

DNA-binding motifs formed from two alpha-helixes which intertwine for about eight turns into a coiled coil and then bifurcate to form Y shaped structures. Leucines occurring in heptad repeats end up on the same sides of the helixes and are adjacent to each other in the stem of the Y (the zipper region). The DNA-binding residues are located in the bifurcated region of the Y.
