Scope note: Variante de carcinoma epidermoide bien diferenciado, localizado con mayor frecuencia en la cavidad oral, pero ocurre también en la laringe, fosas nasales, esófago, pene, región anorrectal, vulva, vagina, cuello uterino, y piel, especialmente en la planta del pie. La mayor parte de los casos intraorales aparecen en varones ancianos que son adictos al tabaco masticado. El tratamiento es la resección quirúrgica. La radioterapia no está indicada, ya que hasta el 30 por ciento de los tratados con radiaciones se tornan altamente agresivos en los 6 meses siguientes. (Segen, Dictionary of Modern Medicine, 1992)

Scope note: A variant of well-differentiated epidermoid carcinoma that is most common in the oral cavity, but also occurs in the larynx, nasal cavity, esophagus, penis, anorectal region, vulva, vagina, uterine cervix, and skin, especially on the sole of the foot. Most intraoral cases occur in elderly male abusers of smokeless tobacco. The treatment is surgical resection. Radiotherapy is not indicated, as up to 30% treated with radiation become highly aggressive within six months. (Segen, Dictionary of Modern Medicine, 1992)
