Scope note: Tipo de métodos estadísticos aplicables a un gran grupo de distribuciones de probabilidades, empleados para probar la correlación, localización, independencia, etc. En la mayoría de las pruebas no paramétricas los resultados u observaciones originales son reemplazados por otra variable que contiene menos información. Una clase importante de pruebas no paramétricas emplea las propiedades ordinales de los datos. Otra clase de pruebas emplea información acerca de si una observación está por encima o por debajo de algún valor fijado, como la mediana, y una tercera clase se basa en la frecuencia de aparición de series en los datos.
