Scope note: Subunidad del complejo de la TROPONINA que inhibe la actividad de la ATPASA DE LA ACTOMIOSINA, interrumpiendo la interacción entre la ACTINA y la MIOSINA. Existen tres subtipos: la troponina I3, que es específica del corazón, y las troponinas I1 e I2, que son esqueléticas. La troponina I3 es un BIOMARCADOR de daño en los MIOCITOS CARDÍACOS. Las mutaciones en el gen de la troponina I3 se asocian a la MIOCARDIOPATÍA HIPERTRÓFICA FAMILIAR.
