Hay dos subtipos de troponina C: troponina C1, de tipo esquelético y cardíaco, y troponina C2, de tipo esquelético. La troponina C1 es un BIOMARCADOR de lesión o daño en los MIOCITOS CARDÍACOS. Las mutaciones en el gen de la troponina C1 se asocian a la MIOCARDIOPATÍA HIPERTRÓFICA FAMILIAR.
