Descriptor English: beta-Tocopherol
Descriptor Spanish: beta-Tocoferol
Descriptor beta-tocoferol
Descriptor Portuguese: beta-Tocoferol
Descriptor French: bêta-Tocophérol
Entry term(s): 3,4-Dihydro-2,5,8-trimethyl-2-(4,8,12- trimethyltridecyl)-2H-1-benzopyran-6-ol
beta Tocopherol
Tree number(s): D03.383.663.283.909.750.374
D03.633.100.150.909.750.374
RDF Unique Identifier: https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/D024503
Scope note: A natural tocopherol with less antioxidant activity than alpha-tocopherol. It exhibits antioxidant activity by virtue of the phenolic hydrogen on the 2H-1-benzopyran-6-ol nucleus. As in GAMMA-TOCOPHEROL, it also has three methyl groups on the 6-chromanol nucleus but at different sites.
